His Church at Work

November 2005 Ministry Momentum

Dear Friends of His Church At Work,

Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.  Psalm 105:1

In this Thanksgiving season, we are thankful for the growing relationships and opportunities to help churches empower and encourage their congregations to live out their faith in the workplace. We are blessed to be a part of the momentum of this church movement!

Here to serve you and your church,

Doug Spada, Founder - His Church at Work

"BEING THE CHURCH" RATHER THAN "GOING TO CHURCH"
Will HallA paradigm shift occurs when one long-held belief system which colors your "view of the world" is replaced by another. Perhaps the most famous is the shift from "the Earth is flat" to "the Earth is round." Often, regardless of the evidence, there is tremendous resistance to a complete shift in paradigm.

Will Hall, Executive Editor, Baptist Press, Southern Baptist Convention, shares his view of how HCAW can assist churches in guiding their congregation through their own paradigm shift:

"His Church at Work's worklife ministry approach for local congregations exemplifies the New Testament strategy of training Believers to reach the lost where they congregate. It is a paradigm shift from our contemporary practices of bringing the lost to where Believers gather and represents a return to the biblical model of evangelism and discipleship. The church-based outcomes of this dynamic work focus figures to catalyze the growth of Christianity in America the same way that the house church movement has ignited the rapid expansion of the Gospel in China and other lands abroad."

How does HCAW help churches? Our process includes:

  1. Vision and Model Development
  2. Planning and Implementation
  3. WorkLife University
  4. Ministry Launch Campaign
  5. Branded Discipleship Infrastructure
  6. Ongoing Coaching, Content and Support Staff

DO YOU RECOGNIZE YOUR "JERUSALEM" AT WORK?
Digging"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."  Acts 1:8

One of the awesome privileges we have as Christians is to participate in the spreading of God's Word. When you read the verse above, do you recognize that your workplace is included?

When we view our workplace as a field where God has "planted" us, our outlook and perspective about work should be vastly different than those who see it as a necessary drudgery. This is the "field" where God calls us to live out our faith and touch others in His name!

Check out what leaders are saying...

ADDRESSING WORKLIFE MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE!
HCAW LogoRelevance is what brings about engagement. Many church members ache for affirmation in the area of their lives where they spend a majority of their time-- work. When churches acknowledge the importance of living out faith in the workplace, the response can be powerful! Just read one of those powerful responses from a believer in a partner church:

"Living in a large metropolitan area, I could attend a number of great churches. The reason I am attending here is because this church cares about me and my life at work. I have never experienced anything like this before. I can't tell you what a difference it is making in my personal relationship with Christ. My faith is becoming real to me 24/7. This is THE reason I have chosen to attend and support this church."

DO YOU DESIRE TO SEE THIS KIND OF EXCITEMENT AND CONNECTION IN YOUR CHURCH?

In your church, WorkLife Ministry needs a champion, a delegated activist leader. Are you a leader/member who can champion this in your church? We can help you! God may very well be asking you to be the key to worklife reformation in your congregation!

20 YEARS OF SEARCHING BIRTHS CLASS
Wooddale_ LogoThe seed was planted 20 years ago, when Joel Jennings' son asked him "Dad, what does it really mean to be a Christian businessman?" On Sunday, November 13, 2005, 25 fellow members of Wooddale Church participated in the first of a five part class called "Your Faith at Work" which Joel developed to help answer his son's question.

The classes will not only cover the biblical view of the purpose and place of work in a Christian's life, but will also focus on practical, real-life ways to integrate faith into every facet of the participants' workplace.

Joel provides a great example of how a church member can utilize their gifts and passions to help teach others and inspire them to live out their faith at work!
