November 2005 Ministry Momentum Dear Friends of His Church At Work, Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Psalm 105:1 In this Thanksgiving season, we are thankful for the growing relationships and opportunities to help churches empower and encourage their congregations to live out their faith in the workplace. We are blessed to be a part of the momentum of this church movement! A paradigm shift occurs when one long-held belief system which colors your "view of the world" is replaced by another. Perhaps the most famous is the shift from "the Earth is flat" to "the Earth is round." Often, regardless of the evidence, there is tremendous resistance to a complete shift in paradigm.
Relevance is what brings about engagement. Many church members ache for affirmation in the area of their lives where they spend a majority of their time-- work. The seed was planted 20 years ago, when Joel Jennings' son asked him "Dad, what does it really mean to be a Christian businessman?" On Sunday, November 13, 2005, 25 fellow members of Wooddale Church participated in the first of a five part class called "Your Faith at Work" which Joel developed to help answer his son's question.|
